Phrasal verbs
A phrasal verb is a combination of two or more words, usually a verb and preposition, which acts as one word.
Phrasal verbs are common in both spoken and written English, so we should practise them as often as possible.
01. make somebody out
★ to understand somebody's character
★ to manage to see somebody/something | distinguish
☆ I could just make out a figure in the darkness.
★ make out who, what, etc | identify
✓ I could hear their voices but I could not make out what they were saying.
02. to say something is true when it may not be | claim
★ She is not as rich as people make out.
